KIRK FULLER
Kirk A. Fuller received his Ph.D. in
Physics, under the direction of Prof. George Kattawar, from Texas A&M
University in 1987. Dr. Fuller was an NRC postdoctoral fellow in Ron
Pinnick’s group in the Atmospheric Science Lab at White Sands Missile
Range, and then joined the research staff of the Department of Atmospheric
Science at Colorado State University. At CSU, he worked with Profs. Graeme
Stephens and Sonia Kreidenweis, and Dr. Bill Malm (National Park Service)
on various problems in radiative transfer, aerosol science, and visual
air quality. His current research interests include propagation of electromagnetic
(EM) radiation, especially with regard to fundamental research in EM
scattering theory; aerosol science applications in remote sensing, climate
change, and air quality; and photonics and chemical/biological sensing.
Since coming to UAH in 1999, he has established the Applied Microparticle
Optics and Radiometry (AmOR) program, which includes a lab and
instrumentation suite for the study of the spectroscopic properties of
air borne particulate matter. He has also developed courses, cross listed
with the Physics Department, on microparticle optics and radiometry and
on atmospheric aerosols. These courses are currently available as a UAH
distance learning resource.
