Volume 3, Number 9, June, 2012

** disclaimer: The records cited below are from the Southeastern Regional Climate Center (SERCC) and often do not account for older historical data at nearby sites. In this dataset, a station that moved a little, was considered closed and opened as a new station ends one record and begins another. In many cases, reporting stations do not use historical data from nearby sites. For example, in the climatology of Huntsville, records go back to the 1890s; the SERCC data go back only to 1957 when the current station opened at the airport. June's "record" of 106 F for Huntsville in this report does not take into account data before 1957 at nearby stations now closed. The official record June high for Huntsville is 108 F. That record was not broken in 2012. **
