Visiting Us

Whether you are an incoming student, prospective student, or someone in the community that is just wanting to see what we do inside SWIRLL, we can accommodate a tour for you. Our tours will guide you through our facility, highlighting how SWIRLL was designed and built for students to get hands-on experience and use our research equipment not only for education, but to also help the weather community protect life and property by better understanding atmospheric processes.

We have provided tours not only to future or incoming students, but have also given tours for school field trips (domestic and international), local government officials, friends and family, and visiting professors. We will guide you through the lobby, classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, our high bay garage, and each of our platforms. Most tours will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. In order to best accommodate your request, please contact us 2-4 weeks before your desired tour date. Tours may not be available on federal holidays, school holidays, and on occasion due to scheduled events.

Prospective Students

Many of our tours are provided for incoming or prospective students. If you are a prospective or incoming student, we encourage you to consider not only touring our SWIRLL facility, but also scheduling a campus-wide tour. This will allow you to explore both the SWIRLL facility and the main campus. When scheduling a SWIRLL tour, we can also try our best to set up a tour of the National Space Science & Technology Center (NSSTC) which is home to NASA facilities, The National Weather Service, and several other research agencies.
