Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Sundar A. Christopher received his Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences from Colorado State University in 1995. He also holds a Master’s degree in Meteorology from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (1989) and a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2002). He is currently a tenured Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences. Dr. Christopher's research interests include multi‐sensor satellite remote sensing of clouds and aerosols and their impact on air quality, global and regional climate. Dr. Christopher works extensively with NASA, NOAA, ONR, and collaborators in other national and international universities. Dr. Christopher has served on the Climate Change Science Panel and has also served as an expert reviewer for the CCSP report. He has also served on various satellite science teams including the panel for the Global Energy Cycle and Water Experiment assessment for aerosols. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers in national and international journals and has authored two professional development books, one for graduate students and another for early career faculty. He has also served in numerous leadership positions at UAH including Associate Director, Director, Department Chair, and Dean.

He has won several awards including the UAHuntsville Research and Creative Achievement. Dr.

Christopher was a recipient of NASA’s ESS student fellowship and the New Investigator proposal award. He has been invited to speak at various national and international conferences including the United Nations Symposia in Austria, the World Federation of Scientists in Sicily, and the National Remote Sensing Agency in India.

Dr. Christopher is a citizen of the United States of America.
