IDL Routines from Phillip Bitzer and UAH Lightning Group

summary     class     fields     routine details     file attributes

Define a structure to be used with ENTLN pulse data. The fields are:

flashID : string; A unique identifier for the flash (all strokes with this same ID are the same flash) date: three element byte array; Date of the pulse: [year, month, day] secPastMidnight: double; number of seconds past midnight of the date unix_time: double; the unix time of the pulse. May lose precision at microsecond level lat: double; the latitude of the pulse lon: double; the longitude of the pulse height: double; the height (?) of the pulse type: byte; 0=CG, 1=IC amp: float; estimated peak amplitude
This file is still in development. I don't plan for the fields to change (but they might). Fields may also be added.

It's a named structure, so:

str = {entln_pulse}
Of course, you can use pmb_import_enltn to read in a file. It uses this routine under the hood:
eni = pmb_import_entln(file)

Modification History:

First written: Aug 23, 2013 Added unix_time tag 20131127 PMB Renamed to enltn_pulse (this file) 20131202 PMB Tag "date" was a byte array, which obviously can't handle years properly. Now, it's an unsigned short integer. 20140126 PMB
