ESSA is 

the Earth Science Student Association, an organization of undergraduate and graduate students in the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Through student-led activities, the goal of ESSA is to promote an understanding of the earth system and our place in it. The specific objectives are to:

• facilitate students' participation in activities related to the Earth System Science program, 
• promote cohesion among the ESS student body, 
• stimulate commitment to community outreach, and 
• provide professional development opportunities.
