There are many research opportunities at UAH, largely a result of the nation's concern about the environment. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Tennessee Valley Authority all fund atmospheric science research at UAH.

Application fee is $40.

Applicants will be unconditionally admitted only if they have: * a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 overall or 2.75 overall and 3.0 over the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate and graduate credit
* GRE Scores
Graduate school requirements : At least a score of 1000 and 3 on the writing for admission purposes.
However most incoming ATS graduate students have average GRE scores (quantitative + verbal) well above 1200.
* a bachelor's degree in science or engineering from a recognized and accredited college or university
* for international students, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550.

Applicants will be conditionally admitted only if they have:

* a minimum GPA of 2.75 overall or 3.0 over the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate and graduate credit
* a combined score of at least 1500 on the verbal, quantitative, and analytical sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
* a bachelor's degree in science or engineering from a recognized and accredited college or university
* for international students, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550.

A student admitted on a conditional basis who has an overall grade average of B or better for all graduate work attempted up to and including the semester in which 12 semester hours are completed at UAH assumes the status of an unconditionally admitted student.

Failure to remove conditional status by maintaining a minimum overall grade average of B or better on all graduate work attempted as described above results in dismissal from the School of Graduate Studies. In exceptional cases a student may be readmitted upon justified recommendation of the department chair and approval by the graduate dean.

To avoid remedial work in mathematics or science, applicants must have completed a sequence of courses in calculus (including the calculus of vector-valued functions), a course in linear algebra, and a course in ordinary differential equations. Applicants must also have completed at least two semesters of chemistry, two semesters of calculus-based physics, and be able to demonstrate proficiency in at least one high-level computer programming language.

UAH admits new students for every semester and you may apply up to one year in advance. High school students are required to submit test scores (ACT or SAT) and official transcripts along with the completed application form. Application forms and admission information may be obtained by calling 1-800-UAH-CALL or writing to the Office of Admissions, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, Alabama 35899.
